We analyzed 162 patients who had hepato-biliary stones and received surgery at Inha University-Hospital for 3 years and 6 months from Jan. 1988 to Jun. 1991, & divided them into 2 groups, one was a group of patients having only G.B. stones(simple
gall
stones; 85 cases), the other was a group of patients having other hepato-biliary stones(complex gall stones; 77 cases).
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1) Complex gall stone group showed markedly higher frequency of anorexia, indigestion, nausea and vomitting, chill and fever, weight loss, radiating pain, jaundice, pruritis than that of simple gall stone group.
2) There was no difference of the frequency of right upper quadrant tenderness between two groups but complex gall stone group showed higher incidence of jaundice than that of simple gall stone group.
3) Abnormal laboratory findings, such as increased serum bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, GOT, GPT, r-GTP and hypoalbuminemia and bilirubinuria were more common in complex gall stone group than were in simple gal stone group.
But there was no difference of the incidence of leukocytosis between two groups.
4) Diagnostic accuracy of abdominal ultrasonography was 90.6% in simple gall stone group, 72.7% in complex gall stone group respectively.
5) Operative procedures were mainly cholecystectomy in simple gal stone group and T-tube choledochostomy or choledocho-jejunostomy in complex gall stone group.
6) The result of operations; all stones in simple gall stone group were removed completely tub there were retained stones in 28 patients(36%) in complex gall stone group.
7) There were no significant differences between two groups about the distribution of age, ratio of male to female, duration of illness, complication.
